I need to clarify my stand.

I need to make it clear that the ultimate reason for me to change my profile picture to black is not what most of the people have thought. I ran into a few friends today, and the first thing they expressed were the dissent of the election results and thought I shared the same thought. To me, results do matters but this is not what I am upsetting about. What drives me to change the profile picture is not about the results, rather is the process of the ballot counting. Please do not get me wrong. I am not in favour of any party, but what I wish for is just a clean ballot counting. That’s it.

I have been a silent observer throughout the election period. I speak for nobody when it comes to the phantom voters, foreign workers etc. I am not there witnessing all those, I don’t know the truth, with the technology today, anything SEEMS to be “true” yet is not my call. Politics, is not my expertise and I wouldn’t want to be affected by their tricks to gain supports or to sabotage the other. Even for the blackout. I buy their reasoning that the blackout is irregularities. Could be coincidence or manipulation. I have no comment. But to me, the breakout point is the late delivery of the ballot boxes…

That’s it. A delayed in delivery of ballot boxes is the thing that I could not accept. I couldn’t justify who had vote, who can vote etc (all these need solid prove that ordinary people that wont have access to), but as a reasonable person, I could not accept the fact that a delayed of 5 hours. Relevant parties should be able to identify that not all ballots/ballot boxes have been received, so no counting should be initiated. A delayed within 1 hour is reasonable, but 4-5 hours delayed to counting center? I cant convinced myself to accept that. Is not about who win at the end of the counting, but the integrity of the votes, the ballot papers and the whole counting system that I am concern. I am not putting the blame on the volunteers in regards to the counting as they are merely personnel that proceed with instruction. But someone needs to hold responsible about the integrity of the delayed-ballots.

Yes, do not lose hope. Deep down inside me really want to hold onto that. I love her, my homeland, my identity. But I cant stop worrying about the rest. I am concern that if rakyat loses our fate in the system, she will fall apart in no time, a scene that I never ever wants it to be true. Are we mature enough to distinguish whats right and wrong or is it just a herding mindset to follow the “news”? Are we strong enough to handling the current ups and downs or do they just want to escape once and for all? Are we ‘smart’ enough to divert our energy to act on something right or act on something immature that disregard our nation? All these matter.

Let me emphasised again, I changed my profile picture to black is just to express my dissatisfaction of ballot counting process (the ridiculous delayed ballot boxes), not about the results. I have now officially change the black profile pic after showing my dissent, and now is the time to move on.

There is also a wide spread on Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi’s long fight. Given the awareness and the ease of access to information, I believe that we wont take that long to reach the goal. Just need some patience and perseverance… Together, let’s fight for an even level playing field.
