Tahukah anda, Siapa Pewaris Sebenar Pusat Judi Genting? Tauke Genting Highlands, Lim Goh Tong, semasa bekerja di Cameron Highlands tertarik dengan persekitaran Cameron Highlands. Bila balik KL, dia pun mula mencari kawasan yang hampir sama dengan Cameron Highlands tapi dekat dengan KL. Cari punya cari…dia jumpa satu kawasan tanah tinggi di Gunung Ulu Kali yang berketinggian 1800 kaki dari paras laut. Gunung Ulu Kali terletak di tengah² sempadan Selangor & Pahang. Nak buat apa² projek pun, bukan senang… sebab kena deal dengan dua negeri. Tapi Lim Goh Tong bukan bodoh…sebab dia tahu orang Melayu boleh dibeli. Tak usah kata orang kampung… bapak Menteri pun boleh dibeli. Orang pertama dibeli oleh Lim Goh Tong ialah Tan Sri Haji Mohamed Noah Omar. Tak usah lihat title Tan Sri atau pun title Haji. Itu semua tiada makna. Lim Goh Tong tubuhkan Syarikat Genting Highlands Berhad & melantik Haji Mohamed Noah sebagai Pengarah. Lim Goh Tong berpakat dengan Mohamed Noah untuk memohon tanah seluas 12,000 ekar yang terletak dalam negeri Pahang & 2,800 ekar dari negeri Selangor. Sudah semestinya, perkara nak minta tanah ni.. Haji Mohamad Noah yang buat. Kerajaan negeri Pahang meluluskan permohonan Genting Highlands Berhad serta merta. Tapi Datuk Harun Idris yang jadi Menteri Besar Selangor masa tu tak setuju nak bagi macam tu saja. Beliau berikan hak milik 99 tahun kepada Genting Highlands Berhad. Goh Tong tak setuju dengan pajakan 99 tahun, sebaliknya dia mahukan hakmilik kekal. Datuk Harun tak setuju, sebaliknya dia hanya mahu beri pajakan 99 tahun. Akhirnya, Datuk Mohamed Noah berjumpa dengan Tun Razak yang masa tu menjadi Timbalan Perdana Menteri supaya mendesak Datuk Harun suruh beri juga pd Lim Goh Tong. Datuk Harun terpaksa bersetuju dengan Tun Razak supaya berikan tanah seluas 2,800 ekar yang dimiliki oleh Kerajaan Selangor kepada Lim Goh Tong. Apa tujuan untuk bangunkan Genting Highlands..yang tu aku tak perlu cerita. Kalau yang tu pun kalian tak tau..memang bodoh la. Tun Razak pun aku tak payah cerita.. sebab kalau tak tahu dia tu bapa kepada Najib… tak tau nak kata la. Cuma.. berapa ramai yang tau siapa Tan Sri Haji Mohamed Noah yang menjadi kuda tunggangan Lim Goh Tong? Tan Sri Haji Mohamed Noah adalah bapa mertua kepada Tun Razak. Datuk Najib jugak!! Anak Haji Mohamed Noah ialah Rahah (mak Najib) & Suhaila (emak Hishamuddin). Datuk kepada Najib dan Hishamuddin adalah kuda tunggangan Lim Goh Tong untuk mendapatkan 14,800 ekar tanah rizab Melayu untuk dijadikan pusat perjudian terkemuka di dunia. Pak Mentua dengan menantu bersepakat menggunakan kedudukan mereka untuk mendapatkan persetujuan dua² kerajaan negeri. Tun Razak dari Pahang.. jadi tak susah nak bodek Sultan Pahang. Manakala di Selangor, Tun Razak menggunakan kedudukannya sebagai Timbalan Perdana Menteri untuk memaksa Datuk Harun Idris serahkan tanah milik kerajaan Selangor kepada Pak Mentua dia. Cara meluluskan Genting Highland pun semua kelam kabut. Siapa yang menentang semua kena steamroll. Genting Highlands Berhad ditubuhkan pada 27 April 1965. Kerja² membuat jalan dari Genting Sempah ke puncak gunung Ulu Kali bermula pada 18 Ogos 1965. Dalam masa empat bulan, semua proses permohonan tanah selesai. Masa tu kalau rakyat biasa nak tukar nama dalam geran pun mengambil masa dua tahun. Najib Razak pewaris Genting. Sejarah selebihnya..yang tu kalian cari sendiri la. Genting Highlands melalui beberapa proses pertukaran nama, percantuman, pertukaran pemegang saham.. akhirnya dimiliki sepenuhnya oleh Lim Goh Tong. Kini…ada la dua tiga kerat Melayu yang jadi Pengarah non-eksekutif menguruskan pusat judi. Tapi jangan risau…banyak lagi tanah² di Malaysia ni yang belum tergadai. TEMERLOH: Syarikat YP Maintenance Sdn Bhd yang dimiliki Johari Harun dan Syufina Yaakob mencipta sejarah apabila mendapat kelulusan kontrak untuk menyelenggara jalan seluruh negeri Pahang selama tujuh tahun hanya selepas 2 hari ditubuhkan.

Mengikut carian di Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia, syarikat YP Maintenance didaftarkan pada 4 Februari 2013 dengan nombor pendaftaran 1033787.

“Ini bermakna syarikat itu dianugerah projek sebegitu besar pada usia 2 hari. Ini jelas satu salahguna kuasa dan cara merompak duit rakyat sinomim dengan budaya kerajaan Umno-BN yang diketahui umum,” kata Pesuruhjaya PAS Pahang Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.

Menurut carian SSM, terdapat dua ahli lembaga pengarah syarikat iaitu Johari Harun  (No KP: 700120-06-5739) yang beralamat di Janda Baik dan Syufina Yaakob (No KP 800912-02-5514) yang beralamat di Batu Caves. (SSM3.jpg)

Tidak dapat dipastikan samada mereka khasnya Syufina Yaakob mempunyai hubungan kekeluargaan dengan Menteri Besar Pahang Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.

Semakan Harakahdaily dengan laman web SPR mendapati, Johari Harun mengundi di Janda Baik, Ketari di bawah parlimen Bentong, kawasan datuk Adnan Yaakub. Namun begitu semakan terhadap nama Syufina berdasarkan no kad pengenalannya mendapati  tidak ada sebarang rekod dinyatakan.

Sebelum ini, Harakahdaily mendedahkan bahawa Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan negeri yang bersidang pada 6 Februari 2013 telah menganugerahkan kontrak berkenaan kepada YP Maintenance.

Kontrak 7 tahun itu diketahui umum dengan kemunculan sepucuk surat yang ditandatangani Pengarah Kerja Raya Negeri Pahang Datuk Ir Haji Rosman Haji Yahya bertarikh 27 Februari 2013. (lihat SSM4.jpg)

Satu surat rasmi mendedahkan bahawa Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan negeri yang bersidang pada 6 Februari 2013 telah menganugerahkan satu kontrak penyelenggaraan jalan negeri Pahang kepada sebuah syarikat selama tujuh tahun.

Dalam surat yang ditandatangani Pengarah Kerja Raya Negeri Pahang Datuk Ir Haji Rosman Haji Yahya, kontrak tersebut diberikan kepada Syarikat YP Maintenance Sdn Bhd bermula 1 April 2013.

“Pembiayaannya adalah dari peruntukan Wang Amanah Penyenggaraan Jalan Negeri,” baca surat tersebut yang ditujukan kepada “Jurutera Daerah JKR Kuantan/ Temerloh / Jerantut / Pekan / Maran / Bentong / Rompin / Kuala Lipis / Cameron Highlands / Raub / Bera.”

“Ia telah menimbulkan persoalan kenapa ia dibuat untuk tempoh yang begitu panjang?” soal Tuan Ibrahim.

Surat itu turut menyatakan bahawa jalan-jalan yang terlibat dalam kontrak ini ialah jalan-jalan negeri di bawah JKR seperti yang disenaraikan dalam Malaysia Road Record Information System (MARRIS) tetapi tidak termasuk jalan di dalam kategori yang lain.

Surat itu turut mengarahkan sebarang rundingan yang belum dimuktamadkan dengan kontraktor lain perlu dibatalkan.

“Oleh yang demikian, segala kerja-kerja undi dan sebut harga untuk kategori Jalan Raya Negeri Di Bawah JKR yang masih di peringkat tawaran dan masih belum disetuju terima kepada kontraktor hendaklah dibatalkan.

"Walaubagaimanapun, kerja-kerja undi dan sebut harga yang telah disetujuterima oleh kontraktor boleh diteruskan sehingga siap,” tulis surat itu lagi.

Dalam kenyataannya hari ini, Tuan Ibrahim, yang juga Ketua Penerangan PAS Pusat turut menuntut penjelasan daripada Pengerusi BN Pahang, Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob mengenai kontrak berkenaan.


1.     Mengapa Syarikat YP Maintenance dipilih? Apakah nasib bakal melanda kontraktor-kontraktor jalan Kelas F dan peluang kerja anak tempatan?

2.     Apakat butiran perjanjian antara kerajaan negeri dengan Syarikat YP Maintenance?

3.     Bagaimana perjanjian ini boleh menguntungkan warga Pahang? Apakah sebutharga YP Maintenance jauh lebih rendah berbanding kontraktor lain?

4.     Apakah YP Maintenance memenangi kontrak ini melalui tender terbuka?

5.     Berapa jumlah nilai kontrak 7 tahun tersebut? Mengapa 7 tahun dan bukan diperbaharui setiap tahun?

6.     Jika YP Maintenance tidak dapat melaksanakan tugas kontrak, apakah kerajaan negeri mempunyai kuasa untuk mendenda dan membatalkan kontrak?

“PAS dan Pakatan Rakyat Pahang berjanji akan menilai kembali kontrak ini, dan tidak akan mengagak-agak mengambil tindakan susulan untuk menjaga nasib kontraktor F dan anak tempatan apabila kami diberi mandat menerajui Pahang selepas PRU13,” tegas Tuan Ibrahim.

PAS dan Pakatan Rakyat Pahang, katanya tidak akan membiarkan perkara ini berlarutan menjadi ‘SYABAS’ kedua seperti di Selangor dan syarikat bekalan air PAIP di Pahang, di mana kerajaan terpaksa menghabiskan berjuta ringgit tanpa mendapat kembali perkhidmatan yang sewajarnya.

“Kontrak ini menunjukkan bahawa kerajaan pimpinan Umno-BN tengah membuat persiapan untuk tewas dengan menganugerahkan kontrak kerajaan kepada syarikat kroni untuk menjamin pendapatan mereka pada masa hadapan,” tambah beliau.

Tanah rezab melayu di Johor tinggal 10% shj. Kerja siapa tu, kerja DAP kah tu? Anak anak melayu yg layak utk mendapat biasiswa utk mengambil jurusan perubatan di luar negara terpaksa berebut untuk mendapat biasiswa yg terhad kerana diperuntukkan kpd semua kaum sehingga pelajar melayu di kolej kolej persedian utk bidang perubatan merupakan kumpulan minoriti tu inisiatif siapa? DAP kah?

Fakta!! Presiden MCA Pernah Jadi Perdana Menteri Malaysia Selama 10 hari

Pada 4 Februari 1988, Hakim Datuk Harun Hashim , Mahkamah Tinggi Kuala Lumpur telah mengisytiharkan UMNO adalah sebuah pertubuhan yang tidak sah (pertubuhan haram) kerana telah melanggar Akta Pertubuhan. Dengan UMNO dan Pergerakan Pemuda UMNO telah berkubur. UMNO Baru telah ditubuhkan pada 13 Februari 1988 dan perkataan 'baru' telah dikabur serta dhapuskan sama sekali. Pada 21 Mei 1988,

Akibatnya UMNO tidak lagi menjadi parti tunjang kepada parti pemerintah iaitu Barisan Nasional. Oleh yang demikian Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad telah menyerahkan tugas Pengerusi Barisan Nasional kepada Presiden MCA ketika itu , Tun Ling Liong Sik.

Dengan itu juga Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad tidak layak menjadi Perdana Menteri Malaysia kerana parti teras telah diharamkan buat beberapa ketika. Berlaku kekosongan 'Perdana Menteri Malaysia' buat beberapa hari (10 hari) sehinggalah UMNO Baru ditubuhkan.

Menurut tafsiran Perlembagaan Persekutuan , Perdana Menteri Malaysia ketika itu ialah Tun Ling Liong Sik. Walaupun bagaimanapun tidak berlaku perlantikan watikah secara rasmi daripada Yang diPertuan Agung kepada Tun Ling Liong Sik.

Dalam tempoh 4 Febuary sehingga 13 Febuary tempoh 10 hari tersebut Barisan Nasioanl melantik Ling Liong Sik (Presiden MCA) dan telah di serahkan tugas sebagai Perdana Menteri Malaysia, walaupun tidak mendapat watikah perlantikan dari Yang Di Pertuan Agong.

Perkataan 'Baru' telah dikaburkan dari Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Melayu Bersatu ('Baru') kerana menurut tafsiran mahkamah, UMNO lama dan UMNO Baru adalah berbeza, bukan parti yang sama. Pengamal undang-undang memberi tafsiran berbeza-beza sama ada UMNO Baru sama dengan UMNO lama kerana Akta Pertubuhan tidak membenarkan perkara-perkara sebegini.

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah

Many say that Tengku Razaleigh has no pendirian (principles). They say he left Umno to form the opposition Semangat 46, then closed down the party and rejoined Umno when he realised he was going nowhere as an opposition leader. He rejoined Umno because all he wanted was power and this can only be acquired in Umno, not in the opposition.

Well, first of all, Tengku Razaleigh did not leave Umno. Umno left him. To be exact, Umno was deregistered or closed down and a new party was formed, also called Umno, or rather Umno Baru. It is just coincidental (or maybe intentional) that the new party was also called Umno. It could have been called anything, but the fact that it was called Umno confused many who thought that Umno Baru was still Umno. It is not.

When the new party was formed, Tengku Razaleigh and his group were not ‘invited’ to join it. They were left out in the cold, so Tengku Razaleigh had no choice but to also form another party as a platform to continue with what he was trying to achieve. And he called this party Semangat 46 or ‘the spirit of 1946’ because he still maintained the spirit on Umno which was formed in 1946. If he could not retain the party, he would at least retain the reason or spirit behind why the party was formed in 1946.

Tengku Razaleigh never intended to make it big in the opposition. But now that he was heading what was an opposition party meant he had to work with the other opposition parties. And he knew, as an opposition, he would never achieve what he set out to do. But the opposition was all he had at that moment in time so he had to make the best of it under the circumstances.

Dr Mahathir did this too when he spent almost three years outside Umno soon after the 13 May 1969 race riots. And Anwar is doing this now as well. But whether it is Tengku Razaleigh, Dr Mahathir or Anwar, all their roots are in Umno and Umno would be eventually where they have to return. Tengku Razaleigh did. Dr Mahathir did. And, come a point of time, Anwar too will have to do the same.

So Tengku Razaleigh, just like Dr Mahathir before him, after a stint in the opposition, rejoined Umno. That was what it was all about. The name ‘Semangat 46’ was a tell all. Semangat 46 was all about the spirit of Umno.

In fact, ‘Semangat 46’ was not the first choice of name. This name was chosen only because the name ‘Umno Malaysia’ was rejected by the Registrar of Societies. And the Registrar rejected the name to allow 'Umno Baru' to use the name, which was submitted for registration later,after they rejected the ‘Umno Malaysia’ name.

It would have been foolish of anyone to think that Tengku Razaleigh was committed to the opposition and had no aspirations to return to Umno. PAS knew this, and that is why they kept Tengku Razaleigh and Semangat 46 at arm’s length. They knew that the PAS-Semangat 46 relationship was not a marriage but a mere flirtation and a temporary affair. And that is why the relationship was merely cordial at best, and suspicious at worse, and did not last.

Did Tengku Razaleigh rejoin Umno because of the fallout with PAS? Did Tengku Razaleigh rejoin Umno because he saw he had no future in the opposition? And did Tengku Razaleigh rejoin Umno because all he wanted was power? If he did, then he could have negotiated better terms for his return to Umno.

There were already murmurings that Anwar had started to make his move on Dr Mahathir and that the Prime Minister was going to make his countermove to thwart the attempt to oust him. In fact, many thought that Dr Mahathir brought Tengku Razaleigh back to Umno so that he could remove or neutralise Anwar and replace his deputy with Tengku Razaleigh. Tengku Razaleigh could have placed himself in the position to replace Anwar as the number two once Dr Mahathir makes his move. But Tengku Razaleigh did not and instead the job went to Abdullah Ahmad Badawi -- so all the assumptions about Tengku Razaleigh were misplaced.

When Tengku Razaleigh decided to take on Abdullah for the Umno Presidency -- he in fact received enough support to qualify -- all the divisions were instructed to not give Tengku Razaleigh any nominations. Those that remained stubborn were nipped in the bud. For example, one Kelantan division chief who persisted in nominating Tengku Razaleigh for president received a bankruptcy notice at midnight on the eve of his division meeting.

No court delivers a bankruptcy notice at midnight. But this time it did because there was going to be a division meeting the next morning and they wanted to disqualify the division chief from attending the meeting whereby he would nominate Tengku Razaleigh for president.

Tengku Razaleigh was robbed of his nominations to contest the Umno presidency, as he was robbed of the presidency almost two decades before that. But he did not protest. He did not kick up a fuss. He did not go into a rage and tear Umno to pieces. He took it in his stride like a gentleman. Winning or losing is not important. How you play the game is. Others can play the dirty game. But he will not bring himself down to their same level by also playing dirty.

With the ‘loss’ of 20,000 Malay voters, Kuantan suddenly became a ‘Chinese’ seat so the ruling party had to field a Chinese candidate in that constituency, which traditionally had been an UMNO or Malay seat.This was done all over the country. In an attempt to defeat PAS and keADILan, both who depended on Malay votes, Malay majority constituencies were carved up and turned into ‘Chinese’ seats. And what is the result of all this?In the recent election, UMNO won only 96 seats in Peninsular Malaysia and another 11 in Sabah, a total of 107 out of 219, and slightly less than half the seats in Parliament. And this is supposed to be UMNO’s best performance ever. Imagine what it would look like if UMNO performed badly, say like in 1999?
UMNO, which at one time had the majority seats in Parliament, are now just the largest minority. If you want to include the PAS and keADILan seats as ‘Malay’ seats, though they do not regard themselves as Malay parties, then the total would be 115 seats.In what way do you say UMNO’s or the Election Commission’s interest is merely to ensure that Malay political domination is not eroded. The way I see it, the manipulation of electoral boundaries has done exactly this -- erode Malay political domination.

PUTRAJAYA (Sept 16, 2008) : Umno maverick Senator Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has decided to stick to his decision to quit as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and de facto Law Minister, saying the recent arrests under the Internal Security Act was the "last straw".

I don’t want to take leave and my decision to resign remains. I will resign!

Six months after being handpicked by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to spearhead judicial reforms, Zaid told a packed press conference yesterday his efforts had met with "a brickwall" and he now considered himself "a failure". He revealed that his proposals met with "a lot of opposition from the party as well as some cabinet colleagues" who accused him of not being a genuine fighter for his race and religion, "as if I am less Malay".
He had tried to bring forward ideas and proposals for a more transparent judiciary, better selection of judges, proper constitutional recognition for the power of the court and reform of the police.
"I suggested them all but I only succeeded in giving out a small amount of ex-gratia to the sacked judges. So, I admit my failure," he added.
He also described himself as "a man with responsibility (but) with no authority".
On top of that, he said he was also harshly criticised in the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara with calls for him to be sacked as he has not done much to defend his nation, adding "I have gone through a lot."
He said since it was difficult for many to accept his views on the reforms and changes, he decided not to continue to be a burden to Abdullah who himself has been facing a lot of pressure lately.
"Let the Prime Minister focus on problems which he needs to overcome or settle before the coming general assembly. Let not me be the problem. So I decided, best for me, the party, country, for all and for the PM, let me resign.

In his 40-minute press conference, Zaid spoke frankly on a number of related issues. They are:
> On the prime minister's suggestion that he take a two-week leave.
"I thank him, but I am not tired, I am just disappointed. So I don’t want to take leave and my decision to resign remains. I will resign," he said, adding his last day in the office was yesterday.

"I did not expect this. That our government would find journalists a threat to the country? How can a journalist be a security threat? I cannot understand this. But, I am a minister, so I am responsible. In terms of ISA usage, for example, the police said we detain first, then only we investigate. This is a strange principle. I don’t understand this. You cannot detain people just because you want to investigate."
> On rule of law, transparency
"I have failed to convince those in authority, in position of power, to effect those changes about how this government should move forward. I believe in the basic principles that this country respects all rights, all people, all citizens.
"This country is for all. There is no room for discrimination. This country is about rule of law, about transparent process. These are the things that we need to change. If you don’t subscribe to this or you just pay lip service to this principle, it is difficult to translate that into a policy."

He said he sincerely felt the Malays, the country and the people would be better off with the policies that he had thought of. "It has never crossed my mind to deny or bring disadvantage to my own religion or race."
On the Conversion to Islam forum organised by the Bar Council whereby he admitted being condemned by many for not standing up for Islam, Zaid said the issue was not about religion but about humans, concerning problems related to marriage and divorce.
"I cannot translate or make them understand this basic principle that this country is for all. We need to respect equal rights for all people, all races, as provided in the constitution. I feel that it is not difficult to understand this basic principle. And I feel a bit sad that this becomes a problem."

"No, this is not about giving up. This is paving the way for a transformation in a way that I hope will wake up people, will result in some changes (from the party or his cabinet colleages). That’s my hope. That would be good enough."
> On his senatorship
He said he will remain a senator as "it would be nice to talk sometimes in the Senate, to give my views on public issues. I love this country very much and would like to do what I can. I am not about to disappear. I still got some years to contribute to this country, but I just have to play a different role."
Question and answer session:
Q. You have said before, you will keep on trying despite the obstacles in initiating reforms. Why give up now?
Zaid: I was looking for some signs of change, some positive developments to give some sort of assurance, confidence but obviously not. I think if I stayed longer you would have asked me, why are you staying so long, yet you do nothing about this? I think six months is good.

I am not tired. I am just disappointed!

Q. Are you disappointed with the Prime Minister?
Zaid: He is a nice man.
Q. Has he (PM) failed to initiate reforms?
Zaid: He has other things to deal with that I may not know of. Remember, he is the president of the party, I am just an ordinary guy. I don’t have to worry about too many things but he may have other things to worry about.
Q. Do you think he support your policy reforms?
Zaid: I think, within the constraints that he got, he supports it, yes. But he got severe constraints. That’s how I sense it.
Q. Would you remain in Umno or join the opposition?
Zaid: It is a very difficult question because on one hand, Umno hasn’t treated me so well over the years. I got suspended for things I didn’t do, my own nomination in Kota Baru has got into trouble, a lot of people criticised me. Most of those who criticised me about the reforms are actually from Umno. So, I do have some problems.
But at the same time, I also don’t know PKR well, I don’t know the leaders. So, it’s too early to say. But, I have an open mind and I am in no hurry to make a decision.
I have not made any decision to join anybody. I am just saying I have to do this (resign) because I hope it will trigger some good things, it will trigger some changes on the part of the people in power, it will trigger some self-reflection on their part and I hope the PM will overcome his challenges without the burden that I carry.
Q. Have you been courted by them?
Zaid: No, I was not courted but I have friends all over the place who call up, things like that, but these are things that happen to everybody.
Q. Will you go back to practice?
Zaid: I don’t think so. I want to start a foundation to help build closer relations among people of this country. I think race discrimination, race prejudice, race relations is very bad. When I was young, we had a much closer racial relations. Today, we are very divided.
Q. If the government abolishes the ISA, would you make a comeback?
Zaid: I have told the Prime Minister, Sir, you handle your whatever issues, and then, if after all that is settled, if you feel you still want me to be of service to the country, yes. I am not leaving out anything. But of course, to ensure I won’t have the same problems, I must also be satisfied that there are enough people in the cabinet, in the supreme council and in the BN, that support the changes.
Q. Reform is quite impossible in Malaysia as the people are not supportive. How?
Zaid: They could be more supportive but there has to be a transformation at the political level.
Q. Do you think Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would bring about reforms?
Zaid: That’s a hypothetical question. I just hope that anyone who forms the government - be it Abdullah, or Najib, or Tengku Razaleigh (Hamzah), or (Tan Sri) Muhyiddin (Yassin), or Anwar as the PM, I don’t care who - I just want the transformation to take place. That’s my hope.
Q. Was it a mistake to accept Abdullah’s invitation to become a minister?
Zaid: No, that was not a mistake. I would not know what it’s like if I didn’t join.
Q. Don’t you think the next person who comes in will face the same obstacles and therefore it is better for someone with your passion to continue with the fight for reforms?
Zaid: That’s your view. I have to endure these things. I have come to a conclusion, maybe somebody else is more acceptable. My character or the way I talk may upset people. Maybe some other things can be done by other people. You can’t say just because Zaid Ibrahim is not around it can’t be done. It can be done if the political will is there.
Q. What is the single thing Abdullah can do to bring about positive changes?
Zaid: The one single thing is to trust the people of this country - all races. If you feel, you can’t bring yourself to that level of trust and acceptance of certain principles, you will always worry whether a particular policy will benefit this group or that group. You will worry whether it will upset certain benefits or privileges that you have. If you have that sort of thinking, thinking too much about being a "pejuang bangsa" (one who fights for the race), it is difficult to have a policy that reaches out to everybody, that applies to all. That psychological barrier has to be overcome. We have to trust we are one people who want to build one country.
Q. What do you have to say to your cabinet colleagues?
Zaid: To my cab colleague, no hard feelings. Some of them are very fine gentleme. I have close rapport with them. We have differences of views but that’s not a problem. There’s no hard feelings. I hope to maintain that.
Q. Do you think they will miss you in the cabinet?
Zaid: I think they will miss me because I am quite a nice guy. But, some would be pleased. In fact, I already got SMSes from divisions, saying they were very happy with my decision.
Q. Do you think your resignation has an impact on Abdullah this coming party election?
Zaid: I think it would improve his chances. Without me, there is less issue associated with him.
Q. Before the ISA detention have it ever crossed your mind to resign?
Zaid: It crossed my mind a couple of times.

Malay not united?

Umno admits that only 51% of the Malay voters voted for it in the 8 March 2008 general election.
That means 49% voted for Pakatan Rakyat.
Actually this is not that large a drop over the previous general elections. The Malays who voted for Umno this time around is not much different from the elections before that. So how can Umno say that the Malays are now not as united as before?

70% of the Chinese and 90% of the Indians would normally vote for the ruling party --

and Ibans, Kadazans, Dayaks, etc., gave 30 of the 31 Parliament seats in Sarawak and 24 of the 25 Parliament seats in Sabah to Barisan Nasional.

The last 8 March however, while the Malays more or less maintained their 50:50 status,
more than half the Chinese voters and more than 80% the Indian voters swung over to Pakatan Rakyat.

the Malays have NOT lost political power (there are 122 Malay Members of Parliament now, higher than before).

What used to be Malay-Malay (in both Umno and the opposition) and Chinese-Chinese (in MCA and Gerakan) and Indians-Indians (in MIC and PPP) is now Malay-Chinese-Indians in Pakatan Rakyat.

Is UMNO all about preserving power instead of doing whats best for the people?

"Selangor is one of the top destinations in the nation and the first stop for most international tourists. It would be foolhardy for the central government to continue sidelining Selangor as well as Penang, Perak, Kelantan and Kedah, which are all premier destinations."

Azalina had, yesterday, said all funds for tourism in the five opposition ruled states would be directly channelled into the accounts of the states' Tourism Action Councils which will no longer be chaired by the State Executive Councillors in charge of tourism.

The RM1mil annual budget for each state which used to be channelled to the state financial officers when the states were ruled by the Barisan Nasional (BN), will from now on be channelled through federal funds.

Despite being cut off by the ministry, Wong said the Selangor state government would persevere in supporting the industry.

In urging the ministry to seriously reconsider the decision, he said it would bring about a spiral-effect causing losses to the people and the whole industry in the country, including Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters.

"In the short term, it may affect Penang's tourism industry but in the long-term it will defnitely affect the Malaysia's tourism industry," said Law.

He said the Penang Tourism Action Council (PTAC) could face operational problems because it is organising and managing touirm events in the state.

"We may have to expand the Penang Development Corporation (PDC)'s tourism division to take over the organisation of tourism events here since PTAC may not help us organise events in future," he said.

The major projects lined up under the Ninth Malaysian Plan (9MP) such as the RM40 million expansion project for Penang Hill, RM7 million expansion project for the Botanic Gardens, RM5 million expansion project for Penang War Museum and a few million for the Batu Ferringhi clean-up project will still go on.

Face reality of UMNO

Face reality: there is no such a thing as ‘ketuanan Melayu’. This is again a scam to deceive the Malays into making them support UMNO. UMNO never fought for ‘ketuanan Melayu’. UMNO struggled to save the sovereignty of the Malay rulers against what the British colonial masters were trying to do. That was very noble but why was it, it must just stop there.
UMNO then followed the dictates of the British colonial power.

Face reality: Malaysia does not belong to the Malays only. Malaysia belongs to all Malaysians. Malaysians are equal in the eyes of the law and have equal rights in all economic fields and activities. Malaysians had been duped into believing that there was no need for transparency in all government deals.

Face reality: ‘Malay privileges’ was a myth. It was a mirage and to go around demonstrating to show concern that this is being threatened, is simply to exhibit UMNO Malays’ height of stupidity and to show how misguided they were. It must be emphasised that it is not the privilege of the discontented UMNO Malays to simply carry out any illegal demonstrations for any cause at all.
What privileges do poor Malays have? Subsidies given by the government benefit the rich rather than the poor.

Face reality: If in a democracy UMNO loses power, please do not go around demonstrating, lamenting this loss of power. Do not bring racial issues when they are not there. Stop being cowards and weaklings just because a majority of Perak Exco Members are non Malays. Stop behaving like spoiled brats and be always in need of generous help in order to survive.

UMNO Malays have enjoyed life for far too long and have had an easy life since independence and it is time they realise that Malaysia does not owe them a living. Work and strive like everybody else. The days of enjoying a cushy life is gone. Malaysia needs people who want to work and toil in an environment of social and economic equality.

Face reality: Corruption, cronyism and patronage flourished rather than being curbed.

Most UMNO members especially those in the corridors of power were adamant that Pak Lah had not failed the nation or even UMNO and the Barisan Nasional itself. These sycophants had turned Pak Lah into some kind of a feudal lord and their role was simply to keep this lord happy and not to awaken him to face the stark reality. That is another instance of ‘ketuanan Melayu’ in UMNO.

Hishammudin

Hussein Ahmad

Hussein Ahmad is the kingpin of Umno Rantau Panjang, one-time Minister in Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s government who achieved ‘fame’ when he fired his pistol during an Umno division meeting. He was understandably never arrested nor was his pistol confiscated.

Hussein Ahmad was also told to be the one who bailed out some courier(little smugglers) from jail when they were caught by the police of Rantau Panjang.
